Bistro OUI has been on my go-to-list for about 2 months now. I’m not much of an alcohol drinker, but hookah is something I genuinely enjoy after a long day of work or on a lazy weekend. Located in the bustling lane of Koramangala 5th block, this place stands tall, with three floors lit with dreamy yellow lights.
The cafe has very charming, yet very delicate interiors. It’s not OTT or too dull, but somewhere rightly placed in the middle. There is a wooden shelf with lots of books, and a very wine and food themed decor. It was interesting and makes an amazing back-drop for clicking some Instagram worthy shots! The ground floor is a covered cafe, but for hookah you need to go to the roof-top. The trees have pale yellow lights that is the perfect companion for the windy Bangalore weather. It was extremely calming being seated there and we couldn’t wait to start our dinner!
We started with some drinks and appetizers. Jalapeno cheese balls, Apple Wine Spritzer Sangria and a Chili Guava mocktail is what we chose to have. The drinks were delicious and also was an interesting mix of ingredients which really caught my attention. The cheese balls were decent, a little too crispy for me and less on salt; but the gooey texture inside was absolutely melt in the mouth.
After one round of drinks we ordered for a kiwi, pan and grape hookah which wasn’t exceptional but decent and well-made. It was really smooth and totally PERFECT for the really cold Saturday night. Post this we ordered dinner, pasta (since it has been wayy too long since I had it, or written about it) We chose a Carbonara Bacon pasta and a Rosé Vegetarian pasta. The Rosé pasta was a little weak tasting for me when it came to mixing the sauces aptly; the tomato sauce over-powered the complete taste and I am not a fan of it. But both of them tasted fine, and we did not have any major complaints.
Lastly, the waiter suggested we try their Nutella Cheesecake which I thought was below average. The taste was plain and home-made. The presentation was pretty though. (You can skip the dessert here!)
One thing that I must mention; and what I love about restaurants is the phenomenal service. It was fantastic, with the servers coming to check on us every couple of minutes, changing the coal and inquiring about the food and drinks. You MUST visit if you want to relax, sip on fizzy drinks and chill comfortably!
Love, Mansi x
